ALPHONSE ISLAND FISHING NEWS – ALPHONSE ISLAND – WEEK 18

    8 March 2021

    ALPHONSE ISLAND FISHING NEWS | WEEK 18 | 25 FEBRUARY  –  3 MARCH 2021

It has been a brilliant week on Alphonse and St Francois Atoll. A few new friendly faces visited us for the week with Covid-19 restrictions easing up around the world. Anglers were fortunate enough to experience fairly good weather and an amazing neap tide which allowed for great fishing on the coral fingers inside of the lagoons.

The bonefish fishing was amazing as always. The tides allowed anglers to target single tailing fish as well as schools of fish at certain times. Anglers landed 98 bonefish over the week which is brilliant considering only four anglers were actively targeting bonefish.

Day four of the week was a great week all round. Mike Haworth was at it again landing a brilliant 65 cm GT. Claudia Haworth polished up her casting skills and managed to land 15 bonefish in a half-day session. Sebastian landed a brilliant 78 cm GT on a small flexo grab and 20 lbs leader rigged while fishing for permit.

Sergey had a brilliant day on day five of his week. Sergey landed a whopping 91 cm GT. Guide Warren had to make three fly changes while watching a school of GTs feeding in-between nurse sharks. The fish refused a brush flies and finally decided to go for a Flyz Inc double barrel popper. Nick Haworth topped his week off with his very first permit. Nick managed to land a beautiful 55 cm permit at Point Dot on Alphonse.

Another fantastic week was spent at Alphonse Island fishing the St Francois Atoll. Memories were made and bonds were formed that will last a lifetime. Stay tuned for next week’s report as we are sure you won’t want to miss it.

    Tight lines,
