ALPHONSE ISLAND REPORT (26 FEB -05 MARCH)

    7 March 2022

    ALPHONSE ISLAND FISHING NEWS | 26 FEB – 05 MARCH 2022

A slightly quieter week here on Alphonse this week with only five skiffs on the water. The weather was also on our side with lovely sunny days and a gentle breeze for the majority of the week. The spring tides were on our side this week and produced some lovely fish included some bigger GTs.

Starting with the ever-present ghosts of the flats – Nikolay, Christophe, Lois, Johan, Rune and Petter all managed to land their first bonefish. Chantal and Dean also managed to tame some hefty bonefish over 60 cm. The triggerfish were happy this week with Chantal landing a lovely moustache triggerfish and Brad an awesome yellowmargin triggerfish. Brads trigger was part of the only Flats Slam for the week consisting of a GT and a bonefish.

GT Friday lived up to its name with six GTs being caught. Eddie, Richard, Christophe, John and Niall all managed to catch their first GTs this week. The GT of the week goes to Dean who caught a lovely 96 cm GT at five minutes to four on the last day. Paul, Chantal, Patrick and Sergey are no strangers to Alphonse and also managed to catch some GTs this week.

On the bluewater side of things, which has been quite the last few weeks. Nikolay managed to catch his first yellowfin tuna, while John managed to catch his first sailfish and wahoo.

Although slightly quieter a lovely and fish filled week was had here on Alphonse with some very happy guests and awesome memories. Next week we are heading into the neap tidal cycle so hopefully we will have some good catches of triggerfish and permit. That’s it from us here on Alphonse this week stay tuned for next weeks catch report.
